Effect of UV-curing time on the adhesion performance of pressure sensitive adhesive |

Improving adhesion performance of adhesives has been an important issue with proper manufacturing conditions. It is of interest that the adhesion performance of the filler-reinforced adhesives declines as exposed to prolonged UV curing despite no measures of increasing their cohesion through post-crosslinks or filler modification, and this is not available for the adhesives without filler. Herein, we analyze how the filler addition can influence adhesion of the adhesives and explain it in polymer science point of view based on the characterization results. The tensile properties indicate that the molecular weight can be largely influenced as UV curing time varies. The surface energy calculation reveals that the adhesion performance of the filler-reinforced adhesives is strongly related to the number of adhesive bonds at the surface. We expect that our findings can be useful to design optimized manufacturing of the filler-incorporated PSAs with desired properties. |
