Aluminum surface treatment with micro & nano patterned structure for enhancing adhesion power on metal-polymer interfaces |

Adhesive bonding has been widely applied for diverse industrial purpose, such as airplane, automobile, microelectronic, and so on. Conventionally joint techniques such as welding, bolting and riveting are used, but adhesive bonding is gradually replacing their position. Therefore, it is very important to develop special topology for enhancing adhesion power on metal-polymer interface and to understand what the mechanism is. In this study, we develop the unique surface treatment of aluminum which has the nano-hole on the micro line pattern using photolithography and anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) techniques. Also, to verify the mechanism sample is checked by single leg bending (SLB) test. Micro and nano hybrid metal surface shows notable adhesion power enhancement on both open and sliding fracture test. |
