Ag-doped TiO2 (TiO2@Ag) was prepared by doping titanium dioxide with Ag nanometals by sonochemical reduction method and the antimicrobial activity of the resulting nanocomposite was correlated with doping level of Ag (0.1~0.8 ml of 1.0 wt% AgNO3), injection amounts of TiO2@Ag (0.1~0.3 ml), and the intensity of light irradiation (1800~600 lux). The antimicrobial activity of as-prepared samples was estimated by counting colony numbers survived on the agar plate incubated for 24 hours after the loading E. coli on the solid-state media. The antimicrobial activity of TiO2@Ag was higher than that of the pristine TiO2, and TiO2@Ag with higher Ag doping exhibited the higher antimicrobial activity. After then, the nanocomposite were kept at 4 ℃ for a long time and the aged samples exhibited the decrease of antimicrobial activity with the elapse of times. |
