The membrane process of gas separation has been exploited in a variety of applications for the past few decades. The selective permeation of gases have been proposed for applications such as natural gas purification, biogas upgrading, air dehumidification, and oxygen enrichment of air. In particular, methane enrichment on biogas produced from anaerobic digestion and landfill has been attracted more attention as an alternative energy source for vehicle fuel and gas grid injection. In this study, a mathematical model for asymmetric hollow-fiber membrane module was developed. A Finite Difference Method was suggested for asymmetric membrane to calculate model equations with create a boundary value problem. The numerical method was used for different types of flow patterns. The results were presented in terms of species of purity and productivity. The model results were compared with experimental data. The proposed model can easily be applied to several membrane gas separation processes. |
