Orientation of One and Two Dimensional Additives in an Injection Molding Process |
초록 |
Micro-CT photos were taken in three directions to observe the three-dimensional glass fiber distributions in the injection molded specimens. The skin layer showed that the GF strongly orientated to the flow direction while GF in the core layer orientated perpendicular to the flow direction because of fountain flows. GF in the core layer also oriented to the width direction of the flow. Aluminum flakes is a two-dimensional additive with a flat plate shape. 2D additives show complex orientations, unlike simple one-dimensional additives such as fibers. The orientation of 2D additives was analyzed in injection molded specimen then the surface texture was predicted through computer simulation. Under conditions of normal flow, the aluminum flakes were oriented parallel to the flow direction in the skin layer and oriented perpendicular or parallel to the flow in the core layer. The predicted texture of the product surface from the simulation was compared with injection molding experiments. |
