Heterogeneous Metal oxides are one of the most widely used heterogeneous catalyst due to its acid-base and redox properties and applied to various catalytic reactions. Especially CeO2 is receiving significant attention due to its prominent catalytic activity which is associated with high number of oxygen defects and redox ability between Ce3+ and Ce4+. Among various particle geometries, hollow cerium oxide sphere has noticeable advantages because of its high-surface area by decreasing size of nanoparticle and its ability to confine chemicals for controlled release. Several synthetic methods were developed to synthesize uniform hollow cerium oxide sphere, but its oxidizing performance in organic reactions are not studied enough in organic reactions. Here, imine synthesis through benzyl alcohol oxidation and condensation by oxygen, catalysed by hollow cerium oxide sphere was studied and effect of different solvents and base were analysed. |
