제목 Understanding room temperature electrochemical methane oxidation
초록 Direct partial oxidation of methane is a promising technology for the environmentally friendly and energy-efficient use of natural gas or shale gas. Electrochemical methane oxidation relies on electrochemical potential assisted activation instead of thermocatalytic activation, allowing high-efficiency partial oxidation even at low temperatures. We first compare the generation of reactive oxygen species using OER or salt oxidizers; the generation of reactive oxygen species is crucial for the continuous partial oxidation of methane. Next, we demonstrate electrochemical methane-alcohol oxidation using an oxide catalyst. By employing an oxide catalyst heat treated under various conditions, the effect of oxide surface and surface oxidation state on methane activation is analyzed. Finally, the mechanism for the electrochemical methane-alcohol conversion is introduced,and the production rate and conversion selectivity are evaluated.
