Phase Behavior of Poly(3-alkylthiophene)/Polystyrene Belnds |

Phase diagrams of poly(3-n-alkylthiopene)/polystyrene (P3AT/PS) blends having various n-alkyl side chain lengths (n = 4, 6, 8, 12) of P3AT were obtained by the turbidity measurement. All of P3AT/PS blends exhibited the upper critical solution temperature (UCST) at small molecular weights. Interestingly, as increasing the alkyl side chain length of P3AT, the immiscibility between P3AT and PS increased from n=4 to n=6 and decreased again from n=6 to n=12. Thus, P3HT/PS blend was the most immiscible in all P3AT/PS series. That was explained by Monte Carlo simulation method. |
