In order to prepare a derivative of polythiophene conducting polymer having alkyl thiol groups in its structure, a new monomer of s-2-mercaptoethyl 2-(thiophen-3-yl) ethanethioate (MTE) was synthesized. The yield of the synthesis was about 60 %. The structure of the monomer was performed by using H- and C-NMR spectrums. MTE was electrically polymerized in the electrolyte of LiClO4 and acetonitrile by a cyclic voltammerty in the range of 0.5- 2 V at scan rate 100 mV/s. The PMTE was oxidized with the main anodic peak centered at +1.75V, on the cathodic scan, one well-defined reduction peak at 0.75 V. MTE was covered on the surface of gold plate by a self-assembly technique. The self-assembly was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). |
