Ni-P and Ni-W alloys are interesting for their high hardness and corrosion resistance and are an good example of so-called induced codeposition. P and W can be codeposited easily with iron group metals such as Ni, Co, Fe for it to have induced codeposition characteristics. The effect of plating variables such as pH, concentration of metallic ion, concentration of phosphorous acid or complexing agent, bath temperature and current density was studied on current efficiency as well as P and W content in alloy deposits. To investigate the effect of alloying element on the properties of deposit, microhardness, internal stress, microstruture, phase transformation by heat treatment, corrosion resistance and wear resistance were tested. |
