This work reports the preparation and morphology control of uncalcined hydroxyapatite (un-HAp). The un-HAp has been recently interesting for the preparation of biodegradable devices due to the enhancement of biodegradability. The un-HAp was obtained from the reaction of the diammonium hydrogen phosphate and calcium nitrate tetrahydrate in ammonia solution. The characterization was achieved using a field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), a dynamic light scattering (DLS). Furthermore, X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to analyze the crystal phase and crystallinity. The morphological change of un-HAp from plate to rod was observed above pH 7. The particle size distribution in the range of pH 3 to 13 achieved approximately 100 to 2,500 nm. The un-HAp highest degree of crystallinity was about 77% under pH 10.80. |
