A series of amphiphilic hyperbranched polymers with molecular weight range from 3,000 to 5,000 were synthesized by anionic ring-opening multibranching copolymerization of glycidol and various alkyl oxides. Obtained polymers possess core-shell structure that is polyglycidol as a core and alkyl group as the shell. The molecular weight of such polymer was measured by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) and the structure was characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonace Spectroscopy (NMR). In addition, their performance in intercalation into Na+-montmorillonite clay is also investigated by sonication in water. The results indicated that such polymer has promising performance in inclusion with Na+-montmorillonite clay, and enable the products with uniformly well-defined interlayer structure. The corresponding result was supported by IR and X-ray diffraction studies. |
