Increasing hydrogen peroxide contents, Emulsion polymerization was experimented using DI Water as medium, SDS as surfactant and Styrene as monomer. After measuring contant angle of increasing SDS contents in DI Water or hydrogen peroxide, Surface tension graph was analyzed. Increasing SDS Contents in DI Water, Surface tension values decrease and is constant at a certain point. The point is CMC and this shows micelle was formed. But, Increasing SDS Contents in hydrogen peroxide, Surface tension values is almost contant. This shows micelle is not formed. As a result, we found that hydrogen peroxide disturb micelle formation. Same experiment is performed using TWEEN80 as nonionic surfactant or CTAB as cation surfactant instead of SDS as anion surfactant. Morphology of polymer particle is investigated with SEM images. |
