Isoimerubrine, a member of the unique family of naturally occurring tropoloisoquinoline alkaloids exhibit significant cytotoxic activity (IC50 = 0.34 μM against the leukemia P388 cell line). Their potent biological activity and challenging structure attract a lot of attention. Based on the synthetic strategy of pareitropone, the most potent member among the tropoloisoquinolines, that has been recently reported by our group, we successfully applied the synthetic strategy of the radical anionic coupling reaction of phenolic nitronate for the isoimerubrine synthesis. |
