Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is synthetic polymer with biocompatibility, biodegradability, highly hydrophilicity. However, PVA hydrogel has limited its application in biomedical fields because of the poor load-bearing capacity. Graphene Oxide (GO) can improve its mechanical properties as physical cross-linker. In addition, directional freezing–thawing method can improve mechanical properties of PVA/GO based hydrogel. Introducing polyethyleneimine (PEI) can expect enhanced antimicrobial effects because it improved interaction with the negatively charged bacteria. Ion-Exchanged Zeolites can also give efficient and long-term antimicrobial effect. In this paper, we proposed fabrication of PVA/Zeolite-GO-PEI composite hydrogel having flexible, excellent mechanical properties and antimicrobial properties. Antimicrobial activities were presented by Cu-exchanged Zeolite and PEI. GO successfully enhanced mechanical property of PVA based hydrogel. |
