Hydrocarbon adsorption-desorption of microwave-modified activated carbon |

In this study, the adsorption-desorption of n-butane on activated carbon (AC) with low oxygen content prepared through microwave treatment was studied. Microwave treatment was prepared for 1-7 min at 400 W under N2 atmosphere. Pore characteristics were analyzed using N2/77 K adsorption-desorption isotherms. The specific surface area was calculated by the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) equation. Energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX) were used to presence and distribution of the particles. Chemical modified of ACs were investigated by Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The butane working capacity (BWC) of the microwave modified ACs were determined 5 times according to ASTM D5228. ACs with low oxygen content obtained through microwave treatment was confirmed improved BWC. |
