Radiopaque and biodegradable polydioxanone stent for esophageal obstruction treatment |

In this study, biodegradable polydioxanone (PDO) stents were coated with hyaluronic acid-dopamine conjugate (HA-DA) and barium sulfate (BaSO4) to promote biocompatibility, tissue adhesiveness, and radiopacity for the treatment of esophageal obstruction. The amount of HA-DA on a surface was quantified with micro BCA assay. The radiopacity of PDO stent coated with BaSO4 was confirmed by X-ray. Tissue adhesiveness, degradation behavior, thermo-mechanical properties, and cyto-compatibility were evaluated in accordance with ISO and ASTM standards. Obtained results demonstrated that the PDO stent coated with HA-DA and BaSO4 might be a biocompatible stent with radiopaque and biodegradation. |
