The combined effect of AgNPs decorated CNT on the microbial activity in PES (polyethersulfone) polymer water treatment membrane |

In this study the combined antibiotic effect of CNT-AgNPs (Silver nanoparticles) was observed. AgNps were attached on the CNT by using NaBH4 as a reducing agent; to immobilize the AgNPs which will reduce the cytotoxic effect of AgNPs, as Ag leaches out from polymer membrane. Polyethersulfone (PES) was used as matrix of water treatment membrane. Different composition of PES-CNT-AgNPs were studied for their antibiotic properties and also Ag leaching. E.coli NCCP 13667 was used in a zone-of- inhibition antibiotic test. The combined effect of CNT-Ag was seen in higher concentration and as the Ag was attached with CNT leaching was reduced below effluent standards |
