제목 Study on Reaction Kinetics of the Decomposition of Acidic Sodium chlorite
초록 Chlorite-acid process has fast reaction kinetics. The present study attempts to investigate the decomposition of sodium chlorite in a well stirred reactor in the pH range of 2~3 and temperature range of 15~35oC. The reaction rate was evaluated by analyzing the concentration of chlorite iodometrically. The rate equation was established. Reaction was found first order with respect to both chlorite and acid concentration. Temperature dependence of the reaction was also studied and pre-exponential Arrhenius parameter and activation energy were determined. The effect of chloride ions on the reaction kinetics of chlorite-acid process was also investigated and a chloride promoted pathway has been suggested. The optimum conditions to generate chlorine dioxide from sodium chlorite have been highlighted.
