Production of Biogenic TiO2 via Metabolical-insertion of TiO2 into Diatom Surface |
초록 |
Diatoms are single-celled algae, which make silica shells called frustules that possess periodic structures ordered such as porosity, wave patterns. Nanostructured TiO2 was inserted onto the frustule bio-silica of the diatom. Under controlled conditions, a high-density of diatom was produced and then was incubated in the presence of Silicon and Titanium material. The two-stage cultivation process was employed for diatom culture in photo-bioreactor. The feeding rate of titanium was designed to circumvent the precipitation of titanate in the liquid medium, and feeding rate of silicon was designed to sustain cell division. The addition of titanium to the culture had no detrimental effect on the cell growth and preserved the frustule morphology. Intact frustule was harvested and analyzed for titanium using SEM and XRD analysis. These TiO2 nanoparticle derived from diatoms has a potential to increase efficiency as a photo-catalyst. |
