A colorimetric chemosensor based on D-π-A isophorone dye(Dye1) was synthesized and its detection of cyanide anion(CN-) and ethylamine was investigated. Dye1 showed discernable color changes in response to CN- from yellow to green. Origin of this color change was revealed to be complex formation by anion’s binding to Dye1, which was determined by Job’s plot. Sensing mechanism of the Dye1 to CN- was further confirmed by 1H NMR studies, together with theoretical calculations based on DFT. Dye1 also exhibited colorimetric responses to volatile organic compounds(VOCs), mono-/di-/tri-ethylamines with different reaction speeds in which it suggests potential applicability to the VOCs chemosensors. |
