Preparation of metal ion-adsorbed photoelectrodes and their effects on the photovoltaic performance of TiO2-based solar cells |

In this study, a dilute solution containing bismuth ions was applied to modify TiO2 surface via a very simple dip coating process. We could successfully introduce the bismuth ions on the TiO2 surface, and applied the resulting TiO2 films to photoanodes of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The overall performance of DSSCs was investigated, and the effects of bismuth ion-adsorbed TiO2 layer on the performance were discussed. As a result, incorporation of bismuth ions onto the TiO2 film led to an increase of short circuit current, open circuit voltage and fill factor, compared to those of reference device without surface modification. |
