제목 Catechol-conjugated chitosan for wet tissue adhesives
초록 There have been many challenges to achieve strong adhesion to wet tissues as well as superior mechanical performance. In this study, catechol-conjugated chitosan matrices were fabricated for tissue adhesives. Enzymatically activated catechol could couple to chitosan via Schiff base and Michael addition mechanism. Further, the adhesive and cohesive forces were optimized by controlling the degree of cross-linking affected by oxidation degree of the catechol. The physico-chemical characteristics, tissue adhesive properties, cytotoxicity and blood compatibility were also studied to evaluate the performances of catechol-conjugated chitosan matrices. Our results suggest that matrices of chitosan derivatives underbalanced cohesion and adhesion would be promising tissue adhesives, especially in hemostatic biomaterials for vascular closure.
