Effects of surface functionality on butane working capacity of modified activated carbons |
초록 |
This study evaluated the effects of surface functional groups of activated carbons (AC) on the butane working capacity (BWC). The surface functional groups on the AC surface were controlled by a thermal reduction technique using heat treatment of the range of 600 to 1000°C in a hydrogen/argon (H2:Ar = 4:96 vol.%) atmosphere. Textural properties before and after thermal reduction were observed using N2/77K isothermal adsorption/desorption. The composition of each functional group on the AC was determined by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and a high-resolution deconvolution technique. The BWC of all samples was measured according to the ASTM D5228. |
