A disposal of Mercury-contained wastes is becoming the great concern of industry due to their high toxicity, volatility and persistence in the environment. Therefore, many researches have conducted for stabilization and solidification (S/S) of mercury contained wastes. Among S/S technologies, the S/S performance of chemically bonded phosphate ceramics (CBPC) technology has many advantages such as high waste loading property and implementation under the low temperature. In this study, microencapsulation of various mercury-contained wastes was demonstrated using CBPC technology, and the physical and chemical characterizations of treated wasteswere evaluated. |
