제목 Pitch-derived activated carbon pellet for high performance gasoline canister
초록 In this study, a high-density activated carbon pellet for canisters was prepared using a flat die. Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) act as a binder for the pelletization of pitch-derived activated carbon. Pore characteristics were investigated by N2/77K adsorption isotherms. The hardness of the activated carbon pellet was determined according to ASTM D3802. The butane working capacity (BWC) was determined according to ASTM D5228. It was observed that hardness and textural properties were found to be dependent on the binder ratio. A close relationship between butane activity/retentivity and micropore/mesopore volumes was found. In addition, it was inferred that the volume fraction of micropores and sub-mesopores with diameters between 1.5 and 3.0 nm primarily controls butane activity.
