Carbon nanotubes(CNT) can be used as support materials for costly metal catalysts used in fuel cell electrodes. CNTs have induced much attention as a support of Pt based catalysts owing to its unique properties, such as high surface area, electrical and thermal conductivity and good mechanical strength. It wasobserved that oxygen-containing surface functionalities on CNTs can greatly affect the catalyst particle dispersion by manipulating Pt anchoring and/or nucleating sites.Variety Pt nanoparticlessizes were in situ deposited on the surface of CNT, as confirmed by a transmission electron microscopy and Pt/CNT effectiveness measured by Cyclic voltammetry. |
