Fabrication and Characterization of PEI functionalized MWNTs Platinum Catalysts for PEMFC |

A hybrid material based on Pt nanoparticles and multi-walls carbon nanotubes (MWNT) was fabricated with the assistance of Polyethyleneimine (PEI). The PEI-functionalization provided high density, homogeneous functional groups on the MWNTs’ sidewalls for binding Pt nanoparticles. PEI-functionalization of MWNTs is used as a means to facilitate the uniform deposition of Pt on the MWNT surface. Pt nanoparticles were uniformly deposited on MWNT support with Pt loading of 10 40 wt%. Variety Pt loadings were in situ deposited on the surface of MWNT, as confirmed by a transmission electron microscopy and Pt/MWNT effectiveness measured by cyclic voltammetry. |
