Recently, the quantum-dot enhancement film (QDEF) has been introduced to improve the color gamut for LCD technology. So, we suggest a novel quantum dot enhancement film (QDEF) with a remarkable RGB color gamut of over 100.4% (134.2%) of the Rec. 2020 standard (NTSC standard), respectively for a high-resolution liquid-crystal display (LCD). Our ultra-high resolution QDEF was fabricated by using a highly transparent resin included with high photoluminesce-quantum yield (PL-QY) and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the green light emitting CdSe/ZnS QDs (Cd-QDs) and the red light emitting CsPbBr1I2 QDs (Pr-QDs). Furthermore, optical characteristics of QDEF LCD show a light at the wavelengths of 452.0, 530.1, and 652.4 nm having narrow PL-FWHM of 20.4, 23.8, and 28.1 nm, respectively. Therefore, a remarkable RGB color gamut characteristic of over 100.4% (134.2%) of the Rec. 2020 standard (NTSC standard) was effectively obtained. These impressive results were achieved because of the narrow FWHM of the primary RGB colors as well as the elimination of cross-talk. Therefore, this remarkable jump recorded in color gamut by the Pr and Cd based QDEF, along with the simple process and cost-effectiveness of this proposed technique, would likely prompt their application them to traditional LCDs to achieve a higher resolution display. We will present the detail the Pr and Cd based QDs QDEF in view of optical properties of QDs and LCD display operation. |
