제목 | Stretchable Conductive Au Fiber for Biocompatible Electronic Devices |
초록 | Recently, the advance of stretchable electronics has provided a new insight on designing electronic devices for wearable applications. Specifically, many researches about strain sensors and pressure sensors using conductive materials such as Ag nanowires, Ag nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been performed. High stretchability, stable conductivity and mechanical durability of the sensors were also confirmed by many studies. However, in spite of these advantages, the sensors are not appropriate to be used inside the human body because of their toxicity and chemical reactions that destroy inner tissues. For the applications inside the human body, biocompatibility must be equipped on the sensors or other electronic system. Herein, we have developed highly stretchable conductive Au fiber with high electrical stability and mechanical durability. We have used HAuCl4 methanol precursor solution and performed reduction process to generate Au nanoparticles inside the stretchable fiber. After a single reduction, the Au fiber showed the stretchability up to 600%. Also, we recognized the small amount of mechanical and electrical hysteresis during the stretching tests up to 300% strain. In addition, we have thought about combining the Au fiber with biodegradable insulating polymers to fabricate sensors for health monitoring. We expect that Au fibers would be used for tissues which are very sensitive to external stimulations. |
