제목 The Effect of Compatibilizers on the Microstructure and Properties of LDPE/APES/Organoclay Nanocomposites
초록 Recently, organic-inorganic nanocomposites have attracted great interests since they frequently exhibit unexpected hybrid properties synergistically derived from the two components. One of the most promising composite systems would be hybrids based on organic polymers and inorganic clay minerals consisting of silicate layers. But it is difficult to intercalate organic polymer in the crystal structure of two dimensional clay layers. In this work, we prepared LDPE/APES/MMT/Compatibilizer nanocomposites through melt intercalation method . PE-graft MAH was used as the compatibilizer. The influences of the polar interaction between the APES, and the silicate layers of MMT were also investigated in the presence of PE-g-MAH as a compatibilizer. It is shown that the composites with compatibilizer can make intercalated hybrid nanocomposites, which is due to some polar interaction between the LDPE and APES/Clay. We also attempted to investigate the step-mixing- processing effect; each material was mixed step by step. The structure and properties of LDPE/APES/MMT/compatibilizer hybrids were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), rheological characterization (RDA) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). We observed that the biodegradeble polyester (APES)/clay nanocomposite possess excellent mechanical and thermal properties.
