Prevention of Green Tide using Chitosan with Various Molecular Weight |

In this study, we investigated that chitosan with different molecular weight have a potential ability as control to harmful algal without the any cytotoxicity. Here, chitosan is proposed as new algicidal compounds in combating harmful algal bloom (HAB) cells such as green tide. The plasma membrane of HAB was disrupted by chitosan when the chitosan was treated in green tide. We analyzed biological change of green tide cell by microscope, and UV spectrophotometer. From various experimental results, the chitosan can be controlling HAB with minimal impact on freshwater ecology.
