Carrier tunability by chemical delithiation of LixFePO4 nanoplates for investigating gas-adsorption-reaction property |

LiFePO4 nanoplates are synthesized by a hydrothermal method and Li extraction by using chemical delithiation is carried out for an investigation of resistive gas sensing property. The morphologies and structures of LixFePO4 nanoplates are investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmittance electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The effect of sintering temperature and Li extraction in the nanoplates on their physical and gas adsorption reaction are systematically examined. LixFePO4 sensors reveal a superior NH3 sensing performance upon measurement at 350 oC and the optimum performance is observed for Li0.63FePO4 structure. Sensing property is controlled by Li extraction corresponding to electron carrier tunability from the material to determine the reaction rate on the sensor’s surface. Li0.63FePO4 sensor also exhibits a low detection limit of 500 ppb, superb selectivity, and repeatability. |
