Circulating Tumor Cell (CTC) detection is critical issue in liquid biopsy since it is important biomarker of cancer. Applying hydrogel microparticles has advantages compared to other approaches in CTC detection such as customization, biocompatibility and cell manipulation. Therefore, we introduce microparticles covered with antibody, whose antigen is epithelial cell adhesion molecule, to capture CTC. To functionalize hydrogel microparticle, we apply thiol-PEG-COOH to microparticle for COOH terminal. Followed by several steps, anti-EpCAM is attached to microparticle. Fabricated microparticle shows cell affinity with less cytotoxicity. |
