Zeolitic imidazole frameworks (ZIFs) are known to be potential for adsorption removal and separation applications in both gas and liquid phases. Herein, a simple methodology has been utilized to adjust the size and improve the properties of Co/Zn-ZIF. The intentional substitution of zinc with cobalt in a 10 percent step produced a series of Co/Zn-ZIF. The as-synthesized materials were characterized by SEM, FESEM-EDX, PXRD, FT-IR, thermal analysis, and specific surface measurement. The random substitution of zinc by cobalt atoms in ZIF-8 network creates local distortion in solid which determine the size of crystal. Interestingly, there are some unique physicochemical properties in Co/Zn-ZIF that do not appear in single metal framework (ZIF-8 or ZIF-67) and thus they are applied for adsorption, and heterogeneous applications. |
