Passivation of the TiO2 Nanostructure Interface with mutifunctional PEG-based Oligomeric Co-adsorbent in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells |

The charge recombination at the TiO2-electrolyte interface in dye-sensitized solar cells is considered to be one of major factors in determining the photovoltaic performance of DSSCs. Therefore the surface of the TiO2 layer has been commonly modified to retard the charge recombination by introducing a barrier for the recombination reaction between electrons on the TiO2 and I3- in the electrolyte, i.e., co-adsorbent. In present work, we introduced oligomers containing functional groups as a co-adsorbent on TiO2 nanostructured photoanode. The effects of the co-adsorbent were evaluated in terms of the photovoltaic performance, IPCE and EIS(electrochemical impedance spectroscopy). We observed that the slower recombination rate and the band edge shift enhanced the open circuit voltage (Voc), short circuit current (Jsc) and, ultimately, power conversion efficiency (η) under 1 sun illumination condition. |
