A new class of tailor-made hole-conductors (HC-As) with an enhanced light-harvesting effect was first synthesized for highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells through a cascade-typed hole hopping channel. The HC-A molecules act as a spacer between dye molecules to prevent dye aggregation and also as a hole conductor via hole transfer to accelerate electron transfer from the redox electrolyte to the dye, thus enhancing the overall conversion efficiency. As a consequence, this new class of tailor-made hole-conducting coadsorbents(HC-As) with an enhanced light-harvesting effect is a promising candidate as an alternative co-adsorbent with a new function not seen in DCA or CA derivatives for highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells. Here, their synthesis and DSSC performances will be described. |
