제목 | Development of Al-based Composites Containing Nano-scale Carbides |
초록 | Lightweight metal matrix composites reinforced by nano-carbon materials such as fullerene, carbon nanotube, and graphene have been interested as structural materials because of their high specific strength. The fabrication of the composites by casting process could be significantly cost effective to produce bulk materials. However, it is extremely difficult to disperse the nano-carbon materials in molten metals because they float on the melts due to their lower density. In this study, few layer graphene (FLG)/Al composites were produced by casting process. To solve the aforementioned problem, Cu was used as media of FLG dispersion in molten Al. The FLG/Cu preform was produced by ball-milling and hot-pressing process and then added to the molten Al. Subsequently, the as-cast composites were subjected to cold rolling and then heat treated to recrystallization and ageing. The effects of FLG and Cu on microstructure and mechanical properties of the composites will be discussed. |
