Highly porous conducting composites of polypyrrole(PPy)-poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)-multiwall carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) were fabricated using an electrospinning technique and an in-situ vapor phase polymerization route. A polymer solution of PVDF and CuCl2.2H2O in N, N dimethylacetamide (DMAc) was electrospun for the fabrication of nano porous electrospun web as a substrate. The in-situ vapor phase polymerization technique was employed to coat PPy onto surface of PVDF nano fibers in the web. The morphology of electrospun web and conducting composites was studies by FE-SEM. Its crystalline structure and thermal stability were studied by using DSC and TGA. The electrical conductivity and mechanical strength of PPy coated composites were improved by adding surface modified MWCNTs in the electrospun nanofibers. EF-TEM confirmed MWCNTs were arranged and imbedded in the electrspun nanofiber. The highest conductivity of composite reached to 10-1 S/cm. |
