Zinc Imidazole Coordination based Self-healable Conductive PDMS |

Self-healing material (SHM) have been intensively studied recently due to its wide applicability in various industries. In this study, zinc imidazole coordination based self-healable conductive polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was studied. Zinc-imidazole coordination is well known for its fast dynamic exchange in mild condition (e.g. biological condition), and also it is not sensitive to moisture like hydrogen bond. Using zinc-imidazole coordination as cross-linker, self-healable PDMS was successfully synthesized. A Silver nanowire (AgNW) was used as conductive filler. Uniform dispersion of the conductive filler in the matrix is a big challenge to make conductive elastomer. To obtain a uniform dispersion of AgNW, AgNW surface was modified to induce reversible interaction between AgNW and PDMS matrix. This reversible interaction gives not only uniform dispersion but also additional healing point. |
