제목 | Investigation of various Nitrate precursors as a Post PEO conversion coating agents on the mechanical and electrochemical properties of AZ91 alloy |
초록 | Plasma electrolyte oxidation (PEO) is an innovative electrochemical process that uses high power voltage to produce ceramic coatings on the surface of light metals and alloys (Mg, Ti, Al etc). This process involve anodic oxidation of the substrate material, break down of the anodic layer, plasma generation and consequently a combine physio-chemical process caused by the high plasma temperature produces highly hard and protective coatings on the substrate materials. In the present work various nitrate precursors including nitrate of ceria, iron and Manganese in combination with silicate were used to form PEO coating on AZ91 alloy. Microstructure and phase profile of the coating were analyzed using SEM and XRD respectively. Microstructure revealed compact coating layers. The relevant phases of Mg-Ce-N were observed in the XRD profile which was confirmed from the EDS analysis. The corrosion results of the relevant samples reveled highly enhanced corrosion resistance in combination with improved mechanical properties |
