A series of poly(ether ester) thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) were synthesized by using dimethyl-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate(NDC) as hard segment, poly(tetramethylene ether glycol)(PTMG) (Mw= 1000) as soft segment and 1,4-butanediol(BDO) as chain extender. For improving the physical properties of TPEs, Hyperbranched polyglycidol(HBP) as a chain extender was incorporated in the NDC units. The composition and molecular weight of HBP was changed from 1% to 10% (HBP Mn= 500, 1000, 1500, 2000k). The synthesized TPEs were systematically characterized using various spectroscopic studies, thermal and mechanical analysis. The result reveals that HBP included TPEs shows higher physical properties and among them HBP Mn= 1000 shows best mechanical properties. For tuning the thermal behavior of TPEs the hard segment compositions were changed from 50% to 70%. The synthesized TPEs were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry. |
