제목 | Microwave-assisted copper sulfide nanoparticles for effective dye degradation and antibacterial performance in wastewater treatment |
초록 | Abstract Production of multi-functional copper sulfide nanoparticles (CuS NPs) for wastewater treatment through microwave-approaches is desirable for conventional synthesis routes. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns indicated polycrystalline phase formation of hexagonal CuS. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images also revealed the spherical morphology. FTIR studies established a formation mechanism outline for CuS NPs. The optical bandgap of the prepared CuS nanoparticles was estimated via UV-Vis spectroscopy. Photocatalytic degradation of hazardous methylene blue dye using CuS NPs showed a rapid decomposition rate with 95% degradation efficiency. Additionally, CuS NPs demonstrated significant antibacterial effects on various pathogenic bacteria in terms of zone of inhibition measured by the disc-diffusion method. Thus, the microwave-assisted CuS NPs is suitable for industrial wastewater treatment. |
