Preparation of Novel Energetic Materials Based on Monodisperse Hollow Mesoporous Silica Nanospheres |

Highly-energetic monodisperse nanospheres were prepared based on the hollow mesoporous silica nanospheres which were synthesized from the core-shell nanospheres. The surface of the hollow mesoporous silica nanospheres was further treated with (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane(APTMS) to obtain (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane-grafted hollow mesoporous silica nanospheres (g-HMS) facilitate the adsorption of cyclomethylene trinitramine within the silica framework. By adding various amounts of silica source, the thickness of hollow mesoporous silica was controlled from 10 to 30 nm by adding adequate amount of silica precursor depending on the size of polymer templates. The uptake content of RDX within the dried, final nanospheres mesured by thermogravimetry was approximately 50%. |
