제목 A Fluorescent Crack Sensor Based on Mechanical Cycloreversion of Cyclobutane
초록 The fluorescence-based crack sensing could be accomplished by using the cinnamate-type crosslinked polymers. It was demonstrated that, upon crack formation, the polymer film underwent the cleavage of cyclobutane and regeneration of cinnamoyl groups. Because the cinnamoyl groups capable of fluorescence emission regenerate along propagating cracks, the crack sensor could detect the exact position of surface cracks. We also expected that, comparing with the conventional crack sensors, our new sensor system would be especially advantageous for applications to materials with complex geometry such as welded joints.
