제목 Effect of Isosorbide on Cell Opening of Flexible Polyurethane Foams
초록  Flexible polyurethane foams (FPUFs) have been widely used as cushioning materials in automotive, packaging, and furniture due to their excellent air permeability and mechanical properties as well as controllable resiliency. The inherent properties of FPUFs, such as excellent air permeability and resiliency, arise from the open cellular structure of FPUFs. However, it is commonly required to open the cell window perfectly by introducing the additional processes, such as crushing and reticulation.
 In this study, isosorbide (ISB) was adopted as the cell opener for FPUFs as urethane units formed by ISB show reversible feature above certain temperature. It is expected that the cell-window may be opened by the dissociating urethane bonds formed between the hydroxyl groups of ISB and isocyanate groups. As a result, the addition of ISB effectively improved the cell-window opening at specific content of ISB.
