Effect of Mg2+ substitution on the Microwave Dielectric Properties on Crystal Structural Characteristics of (Zn1-xMgx)1.9GeO3.9 Ceramics |

Dependence of microwave dielectric properties of (Zn1-xMgx)1.9GeO3.9 (0≦x≦0.6) ceramics on the structural characteristics was investigated. Single phase of Zn2GeO4 with rhombohedral structure was detected from x = 0 to x = 0.3, while the secondary phases were observed for the specimens further substitution of Mg2+. With increasing of Mg2+ up to x = 0.2, the unit cell volume increased due to the larger ionic size of Mg2+ than Zn2+, however, rapidly decreased at x = 0.4. The quality factor (Qf) of the specimens with x = 0.4 showed the maximum value through the entire range of the compositions, which could be attributed to the strain of lattice by Mg2+ substitution. The dielectric constant (K) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) of the specimens showed the similar value with Mg2+ substitution. The effects of microstructural characteristics on microwave dielectric properties on were also discussed. |
