Dependence of Microwave Dielectric Properties of (Mg0.95Ni0.05)(Ti1-xSnx)O3 Ceramics on Structural Characteristics |

Relationship between crystal structural characteristics and microwave dielectric properties of (Mg0.95Ni0.05)(Ti1-xSnx)O3 (MNTS, 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) ceramics were investigated. With increase of Sn4+ substitution up to 0.15, the single phase with ilmenite structure was observed, while the secondary phase of SnO2 was confirmed for the specimens with further Sn4+ substitution. The grain size of the specimens decreased and the number of pores increased with increasing Sn4+ substitution. However, the quality factor (Qf) of the MNTS showed improved value with increasing Sn4+ substitution. For the specimens with single phase of ilmenite, the Qf of the specimens significantly depended on the B-site bond valence of the specimens. The dielectric constants (K) of the specimens decreased with increase of Sn4+ substitution due to the lower dielectric polarizability of Sn4+ than Ti4+. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) of the specimens decreased with Sn4+ substitution due to the decrease of octahedral distortion of the specimens. |
