Cu-SSZ-13 has been successfully commercialized as a state-of-the-art catalyst for selective catalytic reduction with NH3 (NH3-SCR). However, as global regulations on NOx emission are getting more stringent, the development of catalysts with higher NOx abatement ability is becoming more important. Here, we propose a new strategy to enhance the reactivity of Cu-SSZ-13 by tuning the species of Cu ion. We design the catalysts to have more reactive species (1Al-Cu) rather than less active species (2Al-Cu) by simply introducing Co2+ co-cation. The Cobalt introduced Cu-SSZ-13 catalysts demonstrated a higher SCR reactivity than conventional Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst. The improvement effect of Co addition was differently demonstrated depending on the reaction temperature and ion exchange ratio, which was closely related to the more facile formation of dimeric Cu intermediates via Cu ion migration. |
