제목 Styrene-free synthesis of vinyl ester resin films for hot-melt prepreg process
초록 The vinyl ester (VE) resin film was synthesized from epoxy resins through esterification with two different acids, methacrylic acid (MAA) and acrylic acid (AA) without a reactive diluent for hot-melt carbon fiber (CF) prepregs. To optimize the viscosity of the VE resin appropriate for hot-melt prepreg process, low molecular weight (Mw) YD-128 (YDL) and high Mw YD-011 (YDH) bisphenol-A epoxy resins were blended for esterification. The optimal molar mass ratio of YDL/YDH in the VE resin system for the hot melt prepreg process was determined to be 4:3 and produced a high-quality film with the lowest surface tackiness. The effect of acid selection on the viscosity, Mw and curing behavior of the resulting VE resins were investigated. The thermal and mechanical properties of the VE resins were also characterized by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Dynamic Mechanical analysis (DMA), respectively.
